From Truro in Cornwall to Dunfermline in Scotland, Bite-Back will be travelling the country with our patron, Steve Backshall, as he brings the underwater world to life on stage during his Ocean theatre tour in October and November.
The host of TV’s Deadly 60 and epic expeditions will be wowing crowds as he shares his passion for the marine environment with tens of thousands of fans during the 34-day schedule. And we’ll be right with him, talking to show-goers about our campaigns and how they can get involved in saving one of the ocean’s most iconic creatures from extinction.
The highly entertaining stage show comprises education, adventure, and footage of Steve alongside awesome marine life. And, better than that, Steve demonstrates the sheer size and scale of these creatures with a life-sized inflatable great white, giant squid, crocodile, and orca.
Campaign director at Bite-Back, Graham Buckingham, said: “This show is full of facts, fun and science and perfectly demonstrates how magnificent the oceans are and yet how vulnerable they are to overfishing, climate change, plastic pollution, and coastal development. It’s a triumph of storytelling and a wonderful call to action to save the oceans from exploitation.”
One of the key campaigns Bite-Back is promoting on the tour is its brand-new education programme Shout Out For Sharks created input from Steve Backshall, Megan McCubbin, Helen Czerski and First News Education. The 56-page pdf pack is free to download and matched to the national curriculum for Key Stage 2 & 3 students.
