Midlands Diving Chamber (MDC), the UK specialist in diving medicine, has announced its inaugural Dive Lectures on Wednesday 1 April 2020 featuring two exciting and high profile speakers; one from the world of natural history television and the other from wreck diving.

The free-to-attend event at the Macready Theatre, in the grounds of Rugby School, will be raising money for Bite-Back Shark & Marine Conservation, MDC’s charity of the year.

The first speaker of the evening is an underwater camera operator, tech diver and explorer Katy Fraser. Katy runs She Dives Tech and was recently recruited to film adventurer Steve Backshall in the underwater caves of Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula for the BBC series Undiscovered Worlds.

The second speaker is Leigh Bishop. Leigh is widely regarded as one of the most accomplished wreck divers in the world. He will be talking about the exploration of the iconic 1916 shipwreck of the Britannic, sister ship of the Titanic, from its discovery in 1975 to today.

Managing director of MDC, Simon Wilson, said: “We’re so excited to be hosting the Dive Lectures in Rugby. We’ve got two amazing speakers who are at the top of their game. They both have fascinating stories to tell that will inspire and entertain our audience. On top of that we’re fundraising for Bite-Back, a charity that’s made real progress in the conservation of sharks and the marine environment. It’s set to be an unmissable evening.”

Tickets for the event must be reserved in advance at Eventbrite.  Although the event is free, attendees are reminded to bring cash for refreshments and donations.

Doors open at 6.00pm and the lectures start at 7.00pm.
