This week Midlands Diving Chamber (MDC) announced its support for Bite-Back Shark & Marine Conservation, naming us as its charity of the year.

Throughout 2020 MDC plans to raise money and awareness for the Bite-Back’s campaigns to end the sale of shark products in the UK.

Speaking from its specialist facilities at Hospital of St Cross in Rugby, managing director of MDC, Simon Wilson, said: “Everything Bite-Back stands for resonates with us as scuba divers and as leaders in diving medicine. It’s easy for us to get passionate about marine conservation and we know the partnership will appeal to our clients too.”

To celebrate the new relationship and bring scuba divers together MDC is expected to release details of its inaugural event in the coming days.

Campaign director for Bite-Back Shark & Marine Conservation, Graham Buckingham, said: “This partnership is great news for the charity and the future of the oceans. MDC works with professional and recreational divers from across the country and it’s terrifically well placed to share our campaigns ambitions and encourage support. We’re delighted to be MDC’s chosen charity.”

Any diver with medical concerns should phone MDC for free advice on 01788 579 555 or, out of hours, call its 24 hour advice line on 07931 472 602.
