United in support of our campaigns, 12 of the world’s most celebrated underwater photographers have donated remarkable images and contributed thought-provoking commentary to create a unique and stunning 2018 fundraising calendar.
Combined the images are valued at more than £36,000, yet the charity is selling the calendar for just £11.00 (including free UK postage).
Among the line-up of legendary contributors are Amanda Cotton, David Doubilet, Tanya Houppermans, Jason Isley, Alex Mustard, Amos Nachoum and Christian Vizl, plus Hollywood portrait photographer Michael Muller.
Campaign director of Bite-Back, Graham Buckingham, said: “Thanks to the generous support of these talented individuals we’ve created this high quality, limited edition, publication to help fund our campaign to make Britain shark fin free. There’s nothing else quite like it anywhere in the world and we know our fans will love it.”
The breath-taking calendar cover shot of a sand tiger shark was taken by award-winning photographer, Tanya Houppermans, in North Carolina, USA.
Tanya also gifted a stunning image of a great hammerhead shark to illustrate the month of August. She describes the hammerhead as ‘one of the most fragile shark species on the planet … with populations down by at least 80% in the past 25 years.’ But, in a heartfelt call for greater conservation efforts, she said ‘it’s not too late. But, we must act now to protect this incredibly beautiful, yet vulnerable, animal.’
Other fabulous shark images include a tiger, whale, silver tip, Galapagos and great white. These sit alongside beautiful shots of marlin, orcas, a Beluga whale, a goliath grouper and penguins.
The 2017 Bite-Back calendar was a complete sell out, prompting the charity to encourage supporters to buy the 2018 edition early to avoid disappointment.
