Bite-Back, the UK shark and marine conservation charity, has just announced details of its highly anticipated 2013 fundraising calendar, featuring images and text from 12 of the world’s very best underwater photographers.
This year the high quality, limited edition, A4 calendar showcases contributions from Stephen Frink and Jim Abernethy alongside the likes of David Doubilet, Doug Perrine, Amos Nachoum, Mark Carwardine, David Fleetham and Alex Mustard plus an endorsement from Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall.
The result is a unique and stunning collection of underwater images from around the world including sharks, dolphins, cuttlefish, sperm whale and manta ray.
Profits from the calendar will help fund Bite-Back’s innovative and successful campaigns to end the sale of shark fin soup in Britain and put pressure on supermarkets to choose conservation over commerce regarding the fish they sell.
The calendar is available from Bite-Back’s online shop, NOW priced at JUST £4.99 plus p&p anywhere in the world.
According to Bite-Back, the calendar is a perfect reminder of what’s at stake. It is a sentiment echoed by David Doubilet. He said:
“As marine photographers we are tasked with convincing the unconvinced that as the seas go, so do we.”
Not only does the calendar make a terrific low-cost gift for anyone, it is a crucial source of revenue for the charity.
High profile Bite-Back supporter, Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall, said:
“For a small charity on a shoestring budget Bite-Back has achieved some remarkable results. I’m a fan of its bold and intelligent campaigns that put pressure on big businesses to choose conservation over commerce and I like the fact that its message is reaching an audience who otherwise wouldn’t think twice about the fish they eat. If you’re alarmed by over-fishing and you care about the marine environment, give Bite-Back your support.”
